Gmail: Delete emails by filter

How to use Gmail search to mass-delete emails

  1. Navigate to mail.google.com
  2. In the search bar enter the search term
    1. before:01/01/2022
  3. Click the check box in the upper left corner of the email section. 
    1. This will select only the emails currently shown. 50 emails by default.
  4. Click the trashcan icon to delete the selected emails.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until satisfied.
  6. Don't forget to empty the trash. You can use the filters for this too.
    1. in:trash
  7. Click the check box in the upper left corner of the email section. 
  8. Click the 'Delete forever' button.
  9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 until satisfied.
